The horse of modern dance ...

So I always want to make a hate list … but that is so incredibly negative … a hate list … i am sure there is a more politically correct way of making a hate list … well, but then it takes away from the hate list … so ok, I am starting the list … it will make an appearance from time to time … I will always announce it …

Ok, so … first, I don’t like it when people use computer animation to make it look like an animal dances and/or talks …

I don’t like it when washed up singers, or anybody, pretends to shake and release invisible dice …

I hate it when guys go to bars, wearing khaki trousers and tight black shirts …

I hate socks with sandals… damn it, if it is too hot for shoes, wear sandals .. if it is too cold for sandals wear bloody shoes .. NO SOCKS WITH SANDALS …

I hate trump and anything related to him/it

Anyone related to the Hilton hotel chain …

I hate people who value stupidity over intelligence …

Side note: it is IMPOSSIBLE to be TOO smart for the job of president of the united states …

I hate that oprah doesn’t give me a new car, I actually really need one !!

I don’t like nougat … I hate it, it is gross … what the hell is it??

Well, I am getting too distracted to continue my rant … i need stop all the coke

so that is brandon flowers....

friday I went to milwaukee to see the killers... I saw them open for
morrissey in chicago this summer and thought I would check them out
again... I got there a bit early and got to talking with brandon
([flowers] of the killers)... we are not too far off in age and seem
to have very similar musical tastes so we talked about that for
awhile..

he seems just as obsessed with morrissey as I am... it was great, we
just hung out before the show (and then again after the show)
talking about primarily morrissey (and depeche Mode and the cure and
the libertines a little too)...

I had with me the NME with brandon on the cover (inside is a glossy
of the killers and also a glossy of the NME pic of morrissey
lounging in a chair ) brandon opened the magazine straight to that
shot of moz and gushed about how he LOVES that pic...

his first moz show was a malajusted show when he was 15... one of
his favorite moz songs is "trouble loves me" and he wishes moz would
do that in concert again... his current absolute fav live moz song
is "jack the ripper" (which he sang a bit of... as we spoke of
it)... he is a big boz (morrissey's guitar player) fan... he had
actually met boz awhile ago while he was working some rock-a-billy
convention that boz attended... he giggled at me when I said how
much I was into gary (the bass player), but I am not sure why....

brandon said he worked at one point at spago in vegas and moz was
there and although he did not approach morrissey, he did manage to
nick his tea cup (and he still has it!!)

he also talked about a show in irvine where moz did "now my heart is
full"... he didn't say when, but he said it was before he thought
about doing music himself... anyway... brandon sang the first few
verses and chorus of the song as he told the story... he said that
when moz got to the line, "tell all of my friends..." the band
stopped and it was just moz singing...

I mentioned his cover of the morrissey song "why don't you find out
for yourself" and asked if they would do it live.. he said no, or at
least not yet... he would like to but they pretty much improvised
it... the first time they did it is when mark broke a string or
something, I am unclear on that but for some reason mark was busy
doing/fixing something... and he (brandon) and david improvised it
live while mark was doing whatever he was doing... then the band
wrote out the chords for it and did it as a bbc session which of
course is now released as a b-side... it was one take and the last
time they did it... but brandon would love to do the song again...

anyway, after the show I continued to talk about morrissey with him
and then he invited me to the sold out chicago show the following
day... which I thought was super nice... and of course i went... it
is always cool to be at a sold out show and just walk up and say,
yeah... i'm on the list...

after the chicago show he mentioned my tshirt (a homemade morrissey
shirt) anytime he sees a morrissey thing he gets excited (i am just
as bad if not worse) for example, after the milwaukee show there
were these handout things with a moz ad on the back... he saw
someone holding one and was all excited and touched the picture
lovingly...

I asked about the house of blues show... he said that he did meet
morrissey, but it was very brief and moz just said hi in a very shy
way... he also said that no one is supposed to sit in when morrissey
does a soundcheck... but brandon kind of snuck in... moz was wearing
a "jogging outfit" as he put it.. he said as soon as moz saw him he
looked a little bothered and started doing his "moves" whereas
before he was just standing there... some of those "moves" brandon
did in concert that night (and a little the next night, but not as
much)

he believes, as I do, that the exciter cd from depeche mode is WAY
underrated... he went to the exciter show and loved every second of
it.. I showed him the exciter ring I wear on my left pinky and he
told me how he got the necklace at the show... his favorite track
from exciter is dead of night...

he talked about counterfeit and counterfeit 2 (martin l gore from
depeche Mode's solo cds), both of which he likes... but then
said, "what did dave do?" -- dave being the darkhaired frontman from
depeche Mode -- "icky gooey floor? what horrible lyrics..." the
song is actually "dirty sticky floors" and it is from dave gahan's
solo cd called "paper monsters"... then brandon said martin is a
brilliant songwriter and smart enough to not let dave write a
song...

i see this email is too long already, but quickly mark is super-
super nice, he really helped me out the other night (i had a small
issue which he helped resolve).. he is also very quiet... his bass
inspirations are paul mccartney, peter hook (from new order), and
simon gallup (from the cure)... he too is a morrissey (moz) fan...

boring bread hit at dinner party, details to follow

so dinner party with a priest from the east coast and a ... student in the priest track?.. went better than expected... father b. (i forgot his name but it is majorly italian and starts with a b) and jacques were great fun... i learned things about the congo and language as well as fun catholic stuff..

jacques speaks several languages... french, swahili, english, and bantu tribe language... amazing.. we spoke about the subjunctive mood for about a half hour... i know that may sound boring, BUT IT WASN'T! he also likes to dance... that was clear because if a song with a good beat came on the radio he would start to groove... which is cool... we were listening to World Music on Sirius Radio... it was a pretty cool mix of songs...

i made a vinaigrette (for the salad) in a traditional french way, but i left out the salt... probably for the best, but i like my salt... also i made brussell sprouts with sundried & oven roasted tomatoes, then we also had melon, berries, jerked turkey and cow-murder (steak)...

we ate outside, dinner was served at around 8pm or so...

they didnt leave until around midnight... it was fun, jacques is going to write me and send me something about the subjunctive mood...

Well, somehow, uhmmm i guess last night i went to bed as stupid as ever, because tonight i set another sweet potato on fire in the microwave... again with the flame, and the neverending smoke... you might think, how does that happen twice... i was wondering that too....

potatoes burn

i will go to bed less stupid tonight... it seems that if a sweet potato CAN and WILL start on fire if left in the microwave too long...  now my clothes smell of tuber smoke as does my hair, my room, the block...

obsessions ...

my obsessions go beyond morrissey and his band... this is about my other obsession, depeche Mode...

29 october, 1993

metro, chicago
So....
this is how i met 2/3 of depeche Mode (an abrivIatEd vErsion)

it all started when i was lucky enough to obtain a front seat against the bar at the first chicago stop of depeche Mode on their songs of faith and devotion/ devotional tour. in chicago. the second night i was second row. after the second show in chicago in october of 1993 i stayed after the show saying that i was with the one of the girls that was chosen to go back stage. i was not able to get back stage but i waited by the door where the backstagers would leave from. after she left (they just gave her a soda) she said dM did not come out but they were supposed to go to the metro . of course me and the two people i was with went to the club/bar. we had to bribe the door man a $20 to get in becuase we were too young, but we got in. the verve were playing on stage (they were completely unknown then - much as they are now) and after a half hour we saw fletch. i approached him with a pen and a painting i did of david and asked for his autograph. he shook my hand and then said "no." and that was that. then waiting at the bar i saw martin l. gore. i went right up to him, shook his hand and asked for his autograph. he signed the back of my painting of david and said he liked it but it should have been of him. since he bleeches his hair so much i HAD to touch it, which i did. martin was shorter than me (i am about 5'9" ).

he bought my friends and i some drinks (yes we were underaged, but that didn't matter). martin was wearing a thick winter jacket he wore on an Mtv rockumentary (ugh MTV). he wanted us to tell him jokes. he was drunk drunk drunk and kept drinking. after a couple of hours he said he had to leave. before he did, he pointed at my crouch and said "what's that?? what's that??" eventually he pointed above my head and then said it again and started laughing. he was too drunk to walk down the stairs and made some remark of his heart stopping 'cause he drank too much. i was lucky enough to help him down the steps (he had his arm around my shoulders as we walked down the stairs) and he and fletch (and their group) got into a white limo and before he left and after he said his goodbyes to us (and he did, by name) he pointed and quoted the chili peppers and said "give it away, give it away, give it away now!"

and he left and i was in shock and still am so very many years later..... any questions?? want more specifics?? click on my little e-mail link thingy and ask me...

craig stillborn show

the last 2 nights were amazing... it was rough sitting through 2 damn episodes of stillborn, at least the treasure at the end was worth it... what i really hated, was that dumbass bit about smith fans being easy... if anything, smiths fans would be untouchable and cold... whatever... or even worse.. that guy from that MTV movie, napoleon dynamite... first, ANYTHING attatched to MTV should be avoided at all cost - without exception. Second, i ask you.. how does an MTV film get off on calling itself independant???? yeah, let's use the word.. wonderful marketing tool... so many crahing bores in this world... sigh.
